    Veterinary student job program

    Start your veterinary career working alongside an experienced hospital team, learning from them, and growing in your confidence. Then, with the help of your coach doctor, you’ll pursue personal learning objectives and work toward long-term goals.

    The Experience

    You’ll work under a Banfield doctor, a coach who will guide you through real-world challenges. That includes hands-on experience performing physical exams, provide proper care, use diagnostic tools, and practice surgical skills.

    Guidelines

    Participants must be a non-clinical-year veterinary student, enrolled in an accredited college of veterinary medicine program and authorized to work in the United States.
    The program lasts 2—10 weeks, during the summer, with flexible hours as well as evening and weekend options.

With the help of your coach, you will provide wellness care, complete physical exams, and help manage medical cases. This is a great way to gain real-time experience in a hospital setting and explore the pride we take in quality of care.

Guidelines

Externships typically last 2—3 weeks but are flexible enough to accommodate up to 8 weeks. So, you have options! Schedules include days, evenings, and weekends. You must be enrolled in an accredited college of veterinary medicine program and authorized to work in the United States.

Students at accredited colleges of veterinary medicine have the chance to learn even more about Banfield practices and culture, while discovering new learning opportunities in our hospitals and sharing these with classmates.

    The Experience

    You’ll partner with a Director of Veterinary Quality or Area Chief of Staff Doctor to plan and carry out campus outreach events for your school. Students will learn more about Banfield, program opportunities, and career options from you.

  • Veterinary technician externship program

    Explore what it’s like being a critical part of the team that clients, pets, and peers count on. You’ll be paired with a credentialed coach who will guide and support you through patient visits, and you’ll get exposure to the daily life of being a credentialed veterinary technician at Banfield, where you can work at the top of your license.

    The Experience

    Take part in clinical procedures and gain firsthand veterinary experience and knowledge by shadowing your coach veterinarian or veterinary technician.

    Guidelines

    While placements typically range from 2 to 12 weeks, we will work with students to ensure needs are met in terms of duration. Schedules will include days, evenings, and weekends. Participants must be currently enrolled in an AVMA/CVTEA-accredited Veterinary Technology program and authorized to work in the United States.
