This role requires associates to work out of a MVH hub location in North America.
Why This Role Matters:
The Paralegal, Commercial Law supports Mars Veterinary Health’s (MVH) business units in North America, including Banfield, BluePearl, and VCA. This role is part of the MVH Legal function’s regional Commercial Law Center of Excellence & Deployment (CoE&D), a collaborative pool of legal resources, designed to flexibly support business needs, balance workloads across the team, and provide responsive, high impact commercial law guidance across multiple business lines and jurisdictions, including outside the United States with the assistance of local counsel.
This Paralegal, Commercial Law will work closely with in-house counsel, procurement, operations, and other internal stakeholders to assist with contract management, legal process coordination, and day-to-day commercial legal support. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and experience working in a fast-paced, legal environment.
You Will:
- Provide contract lifecycle support, including drafting, reviewing, editing, and finalizing standard commercial agreements such as NDAs, vendor contracts, statements of work, and amendments under attorney supervision.
- Maintain and manage contract templates, clause libraries, playbooks, and contract databases, ensuring they are up to date and aligned with company policies.
- Support legal counsel in the negotiation and execution process by tracking status, coordinating signatures, and liaising with business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with legal, commercial, and business teams to ensure accurate and timely contract intake, triage, and assignment.
- Assist with contract summarization and risk flagging for review by legal counsel.
- Perform legal research and maintain current awareness of applicable contract and commercial law requirements in North America.
- Support ongoing legal process improvements and automation initiatives, including enhancing workflows and promoting operational efficiency.
- Help manage inquiries, ensuring timely response and escalation where needed.
- Prepare reports, metrics, and dashboards reflecting contract volume, turnaround times, and workload distribution for continuous improvement.
- Participate in cross-functional and cross-regional projects to support consistency, scalability, and best practices across the Legal COE.

Your Experience Should Include:
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal certificate preferred
- 5+ years of paralegal experience, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm supporting commercial transactions.
- Strong understanding of contract structure, legal terminology, and common commercial terms.
- Experience with contract management systems (CLM) such as Icertis, Coupa, SAP Ariba, or similar platforms.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint).
- Comfortable working in a matrixed, shared-services environment where workload and assignments may flex based on business demand.
- Preferred: Familiarity with procurement, supply chain, or service-based contracting.
Hourly Range: $33.46 – $60.30
Compensation is determined based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and market competitiveness.

Special Working Considerations:
- Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
- Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
- Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
- The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
