Role Purpose
Responsible for the procurement and acquisition of goods and services that deliver short-term procurement value and work to enhance processes and drive efficiency. Consult and advise business units or functions on the acquisition of goods and services of basic to moderate complexity across one or multiple categories.
Ensure the Practice has an uninterrupted supply of goods, services and equipment at the lowest overall demonstrated cost and to develop, foster and maintain effective communication and relationships with all internal and external customers. Participates in the development, implementation, managing and monitoring of world class supply network practices ensuring the best value to the organization.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

- Partner with Sourcing to execute and support category plans/strategies that include purpose, business objectives, and financials for each assigned category to achieve defined business goals.
- Leverage demand and buy levers to evaluate most complex and technical category spend, identify cost reduction opportunities, and recommendations to support business objectives.
- Provide expert consultation for most complex and technical new and renewal contracts, agreements, and leases. Determine appropriate stakeholders (i.e. Legal, Risk, Finance and IT) to engage as necessary
- Develop appropriate supplier relationship management strategies, analyzing cost reductions and supplier performance improvement opportunities or risks.
- Support and/or execute moderately complex and technical RF(x) (i.e. requests for information and/or quotes) with pre-defined and/or new suppliers based on business unit requirements and funding in order to optimize the purchase of products and/or services.
- Review contract pipeline report for assigned categories and consult with the business unit to determine the next action on a supplier relationship. Partner with business unit and Finance to forecast for contract renewals.
- Participate in ongoing purchasing process improvement efforts; evaluate and recommend best purchasing methods (formal and informal bid processes, purchase orders, disbursements, procurement cards, etc.).
- Lead implementation for assigned commodities, maintain business relationships, and drive operational improvements.
- Interpret and evaluate contract provisions, conduct research on requirements, evaluate findings, and make recommendations.
- Conduct spend, internal and market analysis, preparing, coordinating and conducting negotiations.
- Prepare purchase orders through purchasing system, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing policies and procedures.
- Compare quotes with the specifications and availability of goods and services, placing practice wide orders accordingly.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decreasing turnaround times and streamlining work. Determine quantity, product availability and sources of supply. Organize, update, and retain product information files and purchase order records.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Special Working Conditions:
- Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
- Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
- Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
- The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
- Environment where pets are present.
Experience, Education and/or Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain & Logistics, Business Administration, Finance/Accounting or other business field is preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- 5 years of experience required relevant professional experience with understanding of the purchasing cycle & buying process required.
- A knowledge of purchasing regulations, legal compliance, policies and procedures is required with demonstrated advanced negotiations, contract and sourcing skills is preferred.
- Health care background (veterinary or human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) is preferred.
Salary: $69,073 - 103,609
